With the area of action 10 “Sustainability” of the KIT 2025 Strategy, KIT has set itself the goal of strengthening sustainability as a cross-cutting issue for the entire organization. Sustainable development is to be further developed and strengthened in research, teaching, innovation and transfer as well as in our own organization. To this end, the “Basis Project Sustainability” was launched in September 2023. According to the motto Together.Sustainable.KIT , KIT employees and students are called upon and invited to actively shape sustainability at KIT through a highly participatory process.

In January 2024, the work packages started their work according to the four thematic blocks of research, higher education, transfer and innovation as well as KIT as an organization. In workshops, interviews, online surveys, etc., ideas and measures will be collected, developed, prioritized based on criteria, fed into KIT's decision-making processes and implemented over the next two years.
